Term 3 2011.....with Room 10

Hello everyone! Yes! We are back after a lengthy gap for a whole range of reasons......some controllable and others not....but here we are.

The snow was probably our biggest event to mark the new term. It was so exciting for us to be so involved with snow and for more than a few minutes. Yes 3 days gave us a really good taste of it. There were even snowmen on our playing field here at school and a couple of little ones outside Room 2 that were made by some of the Year 7 and 8s. Hope you like the photos everyone!

Our Marae Visit to Woodville

We went to spend the day at the Woodville marae with our buddy class, Room 5. We learnt so much about the Powhiri......the welcome on to the marae, and we learnt to weave a fish and a flower with flax. We also heard some of the stories that are told about our area. We got to know Maryanne and we think she is a great story teller. She also explained to us so many things about the marae. We loved our day and Maryanne loved our waiata...our songs.
Today is supposed to be a very hot day. We know what to do on very hot days.
**We can go into our school library if we are too hot at lunchtime.
**We can sit in the shade of a tree.
**We can put some sunscreen on us to stop us getting sunburnt.
**We can wear our hats.
**We can sit by a building in the shade.
**We can stand in front of the fan in our classroom for a while to cool down.
**We can wear cool clothes.
**We can drink lots of water to help us to cool down.

WOW!!! We know a lot about keeping safe and well on very hot days.

We have been watching and watching and watching every day since we started back at school, First of all we had 11 eggs. Then we had 11 caterpillars but we knew we would not have enough food for them all. We gave 2 to our best friends in Room 9 and 2 to lovely Room 13. Have you worked out how many we had left????? Well! We have watched caterpillars turn into chrysalises and butterflies hatch out of these. What a busy time for our plant and for all these creatures. It is all a little bit MAGIC!!!
