Our Marae Visit to Woodville

We went to spend the day at the Woodville marae with our buddy class, Room 5. We learnt so much about the Powhiri......the welcome on to the marae, and we learnt to weave a fish and a flower with flax. We also heard some of the stories that are told about our area. We got to know Maryanne and we think she is a great story teller. She also explained to us so many things about the marae. We loved our day and Maryanne loved our waiata...our songs.
Today is supposed to be a very hot day. We know what to do on very hot days.
**We can go into our school library if we are too hot at lunchtime.
**We can sit in the shade of a tree.
**We can put some sunscreen on us to stop us getting sunburnt.
**We can wear our hats.
**We can sit by a building in the shade.
**We can stand in front of the fan in our classroom for a while to cool down.
**We can wear cool clothes.
**We can drink lots of water to help us to cool down.

WOW!!! We know a lot about keeping safe and well on very hot days.
